Auto Gps System-Does It Matter Which One You Get?

Monday, January 4th, 2010

Where am I suppose to turn?!

If those words sound familiar to you it might be a good indication you should probably get an Auto GPS System (Global Positioning System). By using one of these systems, you can really make your life stress free on the road. Most people think that GPS systems only get you from point A to point B. However, they do much more than that. If your car broke down you can get roadside assistance, they will help you find food based off your preference, and some will even tell you entertainment around your area tonight. Some of these systems will even help you find the quickest route in a traffic jam.

The POI’s (points of interest) are probably the most important thing when it comes to GPS systems and it is the first thing you should look at. For the most part, all the newest systems have a great number of POI’s but you should still check just to be sure.

If you find that the system has a good number of points of interest, you should check the size of the screen. You need to decide whether you want to go with a big screen or a small screen. If you want a big one then you should get a screen around seven inches, if you want a smaller one then look for a screen around 2.5 inches.

If I were you I would typically try to stay away from the GPS systems that will allow you to play music through them because these are way more expensive and most cars already have the radio.

When purchasing a GPS system, you need to decide what you are going to be using it for. If you drive a lot for work it is worth it to spend a little extra money on a system that will give you live traffic updates. You will not be needing this feature if you do not drive often or you are just interested in getting the directions to a place.

The benefit of purchasing one of the newer GPS systems is the fact that they have a “text to voice” feature which means it will verbally tell you what street to turn on rather than just saying “turn in 500 feet”. This is extremely important as it allows you to concentrate on the road rather than having to look at the screen.

Cheap GPS Systems-How To Find A Cheap System

Friday, December 18th, 2009

When most people think about GPS systems, they automatically think about how expensive they are. But truthfully, there are many cheap GPS systems because of how many companies are out there. When looking for an inexpensive system, you will want to look for one that doesn’t have all the useless gadgets. Some people find that the text to speech is extremely important, but the truth is it isn’t.

Right now, there is some great news for you. The competition between the companies is starting to get more intense as new systems are being developed, this means that each company has to lower their prices to keep up with everyone else. Right now, there is no best brand, but in this article we will be going over the top brands cheapest products.

Garmin

One thing that makes the Garmin so popular is it’s interface. It is probably the easiest interface to use and navigate. The Garmin Nuvi 250 series is currently the cheapest system but are starting to become a bit old and out dated. However, rumor has it that they are going to be producing a new series for the same price. The best thing about Garmins is they have a lot of POI’s (Points of Interest)

Lowrance

If the Lowrance brand has been known for anything, it is the fact that they offer extremely cheap GPS systems that offer a good quality. The interface on Lowrance systems are easy to use as well, but they don’t look as good as the Garmins. The bad part about these systems is the fact that they have a very short battery life.

Magellan

Magellan’s have always been known to produce incredible systems. They have offered incredible and cheap GPS systems ever since they developed their first one. However, if you are going to get a Magellan it is highly recommended that you get the Roadmap series. The advantages of the Magellan are they have a great text to speech capability.

Find The Perfect GPS System For Cars

Friday, December 18th, 2009

There are times in life where driving can become extremely stressful because you get lost. One thing is sure though, if you have a GPS with you, you will never get lost. In this article, we are going to be going over exactly what you need in GPS systems for cars so you don’t waste your money on things you don’t need.

Display

The size of the screen can be a big factor when it comes to GPS systems. The smaller the screen is the harder it will be to see where you will be needing to turn. Most people agree that the optimal screen size is about six inches.

Maps

Once you decide the screen is big enough so you wont be having to take your focus away from the road, you need to find a system that has great map coverage. It is very important that you find one that covers all of North America (if that is where you are from). The majority of them will cover North America by default. Look for a GPS system that has a USB plug that will allow you to upload maps from your computer.

Directional

Having your GPS system actually talk to you is probably the best way to get directions, it sure beats having to constantly look at the map. You will find that basically all the systems have some form of speech but not all of them have the text to speech. This allows you to hear the actual street names instead of hearing “turn right in three miles” In our opinion, this function is easily worth the extra money.

Design

There really is no right or wrong way to choose the design, the only thing that matters is if you like it. However, if you drive more than one car it is important you look for one that will allow you to transport it easily from car to car.
